Friday 3rd November 2017

The Gin Rickey

A long & refreshing alternative to a G&T.

  • 50 ml 6 O'clock Gin
  • 20 ml Lime Juice
  • 10 ml Simple Syrup (1:1)
  1. Build the drink in a highball glass over plenty of ice. Give a good stir to combine all the ingredients and enjoy outside on a hot day.

Dates From: 1883, Washington.
Key Flavours: Juniper & Lime.
Background: Named after Colonel “Joe” Rickey, the Gin Rickey is a variation on what was originally a Bourbon based highball drink. It was created during a long hot summer in Washington D.C. at Shoemaker’s bar by bartender George A. Williamson. The Colonel was known for making wagers with other politicians and was often seen celebrating his wins with a drink in hand.
